Holding a dream for hometown, the story of a one-armed village party secretary

(Source: Xinhua) 64-year-old Wen Shouwen is the party secretary of Longquan village, Funing, Qinhuangdao. 39 years ago, an accident made him lose an arm. In 1990, Wen gave up his own business and began to lead villagers to set up their own companies. In a few years, Longquan village has developed barren hills of 3600 acres, converted 670-acre cultivated land into forests, and grew 430,000 chestnut trees. Meanwhile, he devotes to developing a three-dimensional and ecological agriculture to benefit the whole village and improve people’s living conditions. To 2013, income per capita in Longquan village has reached 15,000 yuan. In 2010, Longquan village initiated a new house construction project building new homes for the local. From living a life for mere subsistence to having adequate money, and to accommodating in modern villas, local people have realized their wealth dream under the leadership of Wen, when Wen has also achieved his hometown-building dream.
