French president orders high vigilance during year-end festivities
PARIS, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- French President Francois Hollande on Wednesday ordered high vigilance and improved security measures to counter terrorism threats during year-end festivities, his office said.
During a security council, Hollande validated a new plan "adapted to threats," which would enter into force on Dec. 1, the statement added.
France's national security alert system will include three levels of protection instead of the current two. The new levels are: vigilance level, enhanced vigilance level and attack level.
France is a major target of terror attacks following its military operations in Syria, Iraq and the Sahel region. On Nov. 19, French police arrested seven men on terrorism charges and foiled "an imminent attack."[ Editor: 刘家铭 ]
