Guangzhou R&F beat Changchun Yatai 1-0

BEIJING, March 12 (Xinhua) -- The defensive midfielder Junior Urso scored the game's only goal for Guangzhou R&F as the host beat Changchun Yatai 1-0 in the second round of the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Sunday.

After a scoreless first half, the visiting Changchun Yatai wasted the leading chance in the 65th minute as Mario Sergio Santos Costa won a penalty kick for Changchun, but Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo's shooting was stopped by the goalkeeper Cheng Yuelei.

The Brazilian midfielder Urso, who just celebrated his 28th birthday, headed the ball into the net as the substitute Lu Lin provided a perfect pass while taking corner kick. This was also Urso's first goal since he joined Guangzhou R&F.

Elsewhere, Henan Jianye tied Liaoning Shenyang Carsing 1-1. After a scoreless tie in the first half, Liaoning took the lead in 60th minute as Lang Zheng got a header passing from Assani Lukimya-Mulongoti and shot the ball into the net. The equalizer for Henan occurred just two minutes later as Eddi Gomes scored in a corner kick.

The third round of CSL will kick off on the first day of next month as the CSL will give way to the national team preparing for two vital matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Asian Zone qualifiers.
