Endangered long-eared jerboa spotted in Xinjiang

A long-eared jerboa, one of the world’s most endangered animals, was recently spotted in a private home in Akesu, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The animal was later released by forestry public security bureau, China News reported.

The nocturnal mouse-like rodents, with long tails, long hind legs meant for jumping and exceptionally large ears, have been listed as one of the world’s top 100 most endangered animals. They mainly live in deserts and subsist on a diet of insects.
