4 killed in house fire in Fiji

SUVA, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Four people were burned to death in a house fire in Lautoka last night as police and fire fighters continued investigations into the cause of the tragedy.

Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro said Monday that it was believed that four of the occupants were trapped inside the three-bedroom house at the time of the incident.

The fire started around midnight Sunday.

Police said one of the occupants managed to escape and was now admitted at the Lautoka ICU ward in critical condition.

Divisional Fire Officer West Gopal Reddy said they had yet to determine the cause of the blaze.

Investigations were underway.
