A glimpse of intangible cultural heritage in N China's Shanxi: Datong Copper Ware

Photo taken on Sept. 22, 2017 shows the works of Datong Copper Ware which was listed as the national-level intangible cultural heritage at Datong City, North China's Shanxi Province. Datong Copperware was originally made in the Spring and Autumn Period (770BC-476BC) more than 2,700 years ago. Datong copperware has developed eight series with more than 350 varieties, namely royal family copperware, traditional copper hot pot, Buddhist gilt votive objects, tourist souvenirs, copper tableware, tea set and wine set, copper art product, among which copper hot pot is the most popular product. The copper hot pot named ‘Nine Dragon Flying to the Moon’ is made with a combination of techniques including mount, relief and copper-strip inlay.
大同铜器历史悠久，源远流长，在两千多年前就拥有炉火纯青的手艺。大同铜器运用传统手工技艺和现代技术相结合，生产加工多种铜工艺产品：有系列工艺火锅、宫廷御锅、旅游纪念等八大系列，二百多个品种，三百五十多个花色,其中工艺火锅最受欢迎。大同铜器制作技艺是国家级非物质文化遗产代表性项目。[ Editor: meng ]
