3 injured in grenade explosion in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Two instructors and a female trainee from the Sri Lanka Airforce (SLAF) were injured in an accidental grenade exploded on Thursday, the SLAF said.

The explosion occurred during an exercise at the Diyatalawa SLAF Combat Training School in the central highlands of the island country, the SLAF said.

SLAF Media spokesperson Group Captain Gihan Seneviratne said the accidental explosion occurred at 10 a.m. local time during the routine training exercise.

The injured had been rushed to the Diyatalawa State Hospital.

An investigation has been launched into the incident. Enditem
