Cruzeiro beat Racing to top Copa Libertadores group

RIO DE JANEIRO, May 22 (Xinhua) -- A superb long-range strike from Real Madrid loanee Lucas Silva helped Cruzeiro beat Racing Club 2-1 in their final Copa Libertadores group match on Tuesday.

Thiago Neves gave the Brazilian side the lead at their Mineirao stadium in Belo Horizonte by lashing in after Sassa's cross was only partially cleared.

Silva then showed great skill by dribbling around his marker before thumping a powerful 22-yard shot into the bottom corner.

Ricardo Centurion pulled a goal back for the Argentine outfit with a volley after Solari's cross took a deflection off Lautaro Martinez.

The result meant Cruzeiro finished top of Group E with 11 points from six matches, ahead of Racing on goal difference.

In Tuesday's only other match, Brazil's Vasco da Gama won 2-0 away to Universidad de Chile.
