Celebrating 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up ——Mainstream Media “Aerial China” Photography Exhibition

Huge changes have taken place in China since reform and opening-up started 40 years ago. Here, you can read the new era via photos. Here, you can understand the grand China.

Over the past 40 years, under the leadership of Communist Party of China (CPC), China has reformed its economic system and deepened reforms in an all-round manner, the Chinese people of all ethnic groups have been striding ahead on the road to prosperity in the direction of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Earthshaking reform and opening-up has carved out the Chinese path, released China’s vitality, rallied Chinese strength, realized the great stride from “catching up with the time” to “leading the time” and written a glorious chapter of the nation's development.

In order to present the new images of thriving country over the past 40 years since the beginning of reform and opening-up, the Photojournalist Society of China (CPS), the Photo Beijing Organizing Committee and GMW.cn jointly hold the Mainstream media “Aerial China” photography exhibition as an important part of the Photo Beijing 2018.

Photos in the exhibition are mostly taken by photojournalists and documentary photographers from mainstream news agencies across China. And the works cover fields including regional economy, urban construction, industrial development, cultural undertakings and public welfare. The exhibition reflect changes in urban development and people’s aspirations for a better life through old photos taken 40 years ago as well as latest aerial photos.

Through the discerning eyes of the photographers, and the heartening images captured, one can see the changes throughout the decades, from the people as well as the ways they work and live. What one sees here is a fascinating collage, a splendid visual record of China’s reform and opening-up over the past 40 years.
