Beijing is a sort of open air modern architecture museum

Editor’s note: This year marks the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up, and huge changes have been made in Beijing, capital of China, over the past 40 years. We have invited 40 foreign experts to participate in a series of interviews named “New Era, New Insight” jointly hosted by GMW.cn(The official website of Guangming Daily) and the Information Office of Beijing Municipality and share their “Beijing Stories”. The following is a part of the interview with the ambassador of Switzerland to China Jean-Jacquesde Dardel.

Beijing is a sort of open air modern architecture museum

Beijing is not only a city of government, it’s also a very thriving, high-tech and science and research development and nowadays artificial intelligence hub.

So I don’t doubt more and more such companies want to come to China and to establish base in Beijing.

The economic development of Beijing is such that yes of course.

And this is not a good location for mass production or having industries perhaps.

But certainly cutting as artificial intelligence and fin-tech industry can well develop here.

It can be and should be improved because we never finish in improving that kind of environment.

I’m strongly believed in openness. I believe this is the pass that has been chosen by and for China.

As China hastens the pace of openness, it will reap and benefits quite quickly.

I find it’s a sort of open air modern architecture museum.

It has many different aspects which are to be discovered.

I find it’s a very interesting place to live in because the bodies, the soul of China.

I feel myself absolutely at home here. I feel like a Beijing Ren.

So I sensed possible friendship, and I like that very much, and that attract me back to Beijing.
