Mumbais 98-year-old bridge to be dismantled
MUMBAI, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Indian financial capital Mumbai will see dismantling of a 98-year-old Lower Parel bridge, or Delisle road bridge, later on Saturday.
The work of dismantling, under which suburban trains ply, will go on for 11 hours and conclude by Sunday morning.
The decision to dismantle the bridge was taken due to corrosion after a study of 447 bridges across Mumbai was taken following a bridge collapse in suburban Andheri. The bridge has been shut for traffic since July 2018.
During the 11-hour period, rail services will be completely stopped between Churchgate and Dadar railway station and 200 train services will be cancelled, according to local media.[ Editor: Zhang Zhou ]
