SSC Napoli want to keep Arkadiusz Milik

WARSAW, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Sporting director of SSC Napoli Cristiano Giuntoli emphasized that the club wants the attacker Arkadiusz Milik to stay as "he is a very important player for the team".

There were some rumours that Milik would like to leave Napoli as he can't find an agreement with the club to extend his contract. However, the sporting director of the "Partneopei" emphasized in the interview for Sky Italia that Napoli will try to keep the Pole.

"He is a very important player for us and we want to keep him. We hold talks with his representatives to renew the player's contract. I'm aware that some clubs are interested in buying Milik, but we didn't get any official offers," Giuntoli was quoted as saying by the Italian media on Wednesday.

He also ruled out that the club will hire Mauro Icardi, who is linked to Napoli, because "the player is great but the club couldn't afford him".

However, Giuntoli confirmed that the "Partenopei" will try to buy Sassuolo forward Jeremie Boga. "He is an important player of his team, strong in one on one. He is certainly very interesting option", admitted SSC Napoli sporting director.

The Italian also said a few words about the transfer market as FIFA considers to extend the market window for all clubs for a few months. "A market open all the time would probably be necessary for us, clubs, but it should go against the ethics of the championship. The players wouldn't have their heads completely on the field, as it happens in January and I don't think it's the solution," commented Giuntoli.

The Italian Serie A was suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak. "At the beginning of the quarantine we had to realize where we had fallen. Now it is important to stay at home. The more we respect the rules and the sooner we get out," concluded SSC Napoli sporting director.
