Israeli researchers develop reusable protective face mask
An Israeli laboratory worker shows a "self-disinfecting", reusable protective face mask at the Technion (Israel Institute of Technology) in northern Israeli city of Haifa on June 15, 2020. Israeli researchers have developed an innovative coronavirus face mask which disinfects itself for multiple use, the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion) said. The mask, developed by Technion researchers, includes an internal layer of carbon fibers, which are homogeneously dispersed within the mask. The disinfection is based on heat produced in the carbon fiber layer using a low two-ampere current, from a standard source such as a portable charger, USB connection or cellular charger.
