Stand with China: Congolese int'l student wrote letter of appreciation to universities in Wuhan

President of Wuhan-Congolese Students Association wrote a letter of appreciation to universities in Wuhan for their effort and act of responsibility in taking care of their fellow country mates.

On Feb. 6, Rice I. Kajila, president of Wuhan-Congolese Students Association, wrote a letter of appreciation to universities in Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province.

On Jan. 23, Wuhan declared unprecedented traffic restrictions as measures to contain the spread of virus within the city hard hit by the coronavirus outbreak. Restrictions included suspending public transport suspension in the city and all outbound flights and trains.

Wuhan, with a population of over ten million, has been regarded as a city of university. There’re about 1.2 million students studying in colleges and universities in Wuhan, among them are many international students.

After the coronavirus outbreak, universities in Wuhan took various measures to guarantee health and safety of students. Many international students in Wuhan had received help and care from their universities, contacted by teachers in time and updated with latest information.

As Kajila wrote in the letter, universities provided for them “all the necessities in order to prevent the infection,” thus he, on behalf of the Wuhan-Congolese Students Association, expressed gratitude to all the universities in Wuhan their for “effort and act of responsibility in taking care of [his] fellow country mates” and for “keeping them safe and healthy during this season.”

Kajila also sent his warm wishes to Wuhan. “We believe this season will soon be over and the city will once again regain its healthy.”

“We also would like in this letter, to congratulate the Chinese Government through the work of the local officials for the quick construction of various hospitals in order to speed up the treatment of the patients and ultimately to fight the outbreak. At the same time, through this letter, please find the expression of our deepest condolences towards the families who lost their loved ones in this season,” Kajila concluded.
