URUMQI, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- All confirmed, suspected and asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 enjoy free treatment in northwest China's Urumqi as the city is battling a resurgence of the virus, said a municipal healthcare official on Sunday.
The move is aimed at ensuring that COVID-19 patients and asymptomatic carriers receive timely treatment without worrying about the fees, said He Xinguo, Party chief of the Urumqi healthcare security bureau.
On Saturday, Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, reported 29 new confirmed cases and nine asymptomatic cases of COVID-19.
The total number of new confirmed and asymptomatic cases in Urumqi dropped for the third consecutive day on Saturday, indicating the prevention and control measures were taking effect, said Sui Rong, a senior municipal official.
By Saturday, Xinjiang had 569 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 112 asymptomatic cases, with most of them in Urumqi.
