Tokyo stocks slip in morning as yen's rise weighs on exporters
TOKYO, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks dropped slightly Tuesday morning after the market inherited a weak lead from Wall Street overnight, with a comparatively firm yen against the U.S. dollar denting sentiment and weighing on exporters.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged down 32.74 points, or 0.14 percent, from Monday to 23,525.95.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 2.20 points, or 0.13 percent, at 1,641.15.
Mining, oil and coal product, and nonferrous metal-liked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
