On June 25, the Lhasa-Nyingchi line, China's first electrified railway on a plateau officially went into operation. The Fuxing trains running on the line are powered by two types of engines, internal combustion engines and electronic motors, travel time from Lhasa to Lhoka and Nyingchi has been reduced to 1 hour 10 minutes and 3 hours 29 minutes respectively. As Fuxing enters Tibet, the bullet train independently developed by China has reached all 31 provinces and autonomous regions of the country.

The Lhasa-Nyingchi line starts from Lhasa and passes through Gonggar, Chanang, Nedong, Sangri and Gyaca counties of Lhoka City and Nang and Mainling counties of Nyingchi. With a total length of 435.48 kilometers, the Grade I single-track electrified railway has a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour.

In the early days of operation, 3 pairs of D-bullet trains are scheduled to run between Lhasa and Nyingchi, 2 pairs will be running during peak times of passenger flow. One pair of trains are arranged for the section from Shigatse to Nyingchi, and an additional pair of normal-speed fast trains are also arranged for the section from Lhasa to Nyingchi.

The opening of the Lhasa-Nyingchi line ended the history when trains could not reach the southeastern part of Tibet. It filled the technical gap of transportation means being vulnerable to the impact of plateau climate, improved the comprehensive traffic network of the region, and extended the coverage and accessibility of high-speed railways in China.

Behind Fuxing's coverage of 31 provinces in China: running across 5 climate zones

On the vast land of China, there are nowadays over 4,000 bullet trains running everyday across different provinces of the country. It's worthy of the pride of all Chinese that China has scored extraordinary achievements in railway development over the years, from the railway line running across the world's largest wind zones, to the world's first operational train on cold plateaus, from the world's first high-speed railway line surrounding a tropical island to a railway line built on an average altitude of more than 3,000 meters for over 90% of its total length, and now the Lhasa-Nyingchi line is crossing the Yarlung Zangbo River 16 times along its route.

High-speed railway in China has broken numerous world records in addressing challenging climate and environmental conditions. China's bullet trains today are running fast and solid across 5 climate zones of the country.
