FMs of Poland, Estonia meet on trade, security issues

WARSAW, June 29 (Xinhua) -- The foreign ministers of Poland and Estonia, Zbigniew Rau and Eva-Maria Liimets, met on Tuesday to discuss the economic ties between the two countries.

"The trade between our two countries has increased more than fourfold since the day we joined the EU together", Rau said at a joint press conference. "And we believe this is not the end."

The two ministers discussed joint infrastructure projects, including Rail Baltica and Via Baltica, that should improve mobility in the entire region of the Baltics. Another topic was the synchronization of the Estonian power grid and the grids of the other Baltic countries with the rest of Europe.

Poland and Estonia have also underlined their commitment to shoring up their cyber defenses and increasing cooperation in the field of IT.

"Over the years the relationship between our countries has developed extremely well," Liimets said. "Poland and Estonia think alike in many areas, and are willing to work together, both bilaterally as within international and multinational organizations." Enditem
