In a commentary published by the U.S. magazine Project Syndicate, it says “The US must give up on containing China and start accommodating it.”
It analyzes that the US “flawed approach” to China is rooted in an enduring belief in the concept of absolute national security which might have been a “reasonable goal” for the US in the decades after the World War II when it stood at the helm of a unipolar world order, but “it is not realistic in today’s multipolar system.”
The article also suggests that the US should “negotiating a new global compact” which accommodates those with different values or systems instead of attempting to “contain and confront” them.
