Domestic comedy "On Your Mark" leads China's box office on debut
BEIJING, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Domestic comedy "On Your Mark" led the Chinese mainland box office on its debut on Friday, finishing with a daily earning of about 13.8 million yuan (around 2.14 million U.S. dollars), data from the China Movie Data Information Network showed Saturday.
The film tells the story of an ordinary father accompanying his physically challenged son in running a marathon. Laced with humor and emotion, the film aims to portray deep and tender paternal love.
The romantic comedy "Man In Love," pocketing over 9.54 million yuan on its eighth day of screening, ranked second on the daily chart.
Coming in third was "Island Keeper," a tear-jerking movie based on true events. It chronicles the story of Wang Jicai, former head of the militia post on Kaishan Island in east China's Jiangsu Province, who spent 32 years guarding the island post with his wife.
The domestic production raked in over 6.77 million yuan. Enditem
