CIIE accelerates overseas traders' entry to Chinese market

"The wool tapestries are selling fast at the fair and need to restock timely!" The chief representative of China Iran international handicraft center says.

"Many same styles for the 4th CIIE are in stock now in the exhibition hall. Sales far exceed expectations," said the principal of the Turkish national pavilion.

The CIIE products fair on Nanjing Street, Shanghai, gathered more than 5,000 styles of CIIE goods of 40 countries and regions, which has become an "immersive clock-in place" to experience CIIE goods and different cultures. In peak periods such as holidays and festivals, hot products are selling "by second" and the overseas traders have to restock several times every day.

Since the 3rd CIIE, Shanghai has kept promoting the construction of transaction service platforms and made progress in trade updating. Shanghai has built 56 transaction service platforms of "6 days + 365 days", introduced about 180,000 CIIE exhibits, which are worth 146.47 billion yuan, and involve 1,390 exhibitors.

The long-term CIIE transaction service platform by the Greenland Global Commodity Trading Hub Group is on the south side of the National Convention and Exhibition Centre, which has attracted 180 organizations and enterprises of 76 countries and regions to settle in, brought in more than 50 billion yuan in upstream and downstream transactions, and brought more than 10 billion yuan of trade growth to the Greenland Global Commodity Trading Hub Group itself. The Greenland Global Commodity Trading Hub Group has introduced national pavilions of 15 countries including Ireland, Bulgaria, Pakistan, Cambodia, Peru, and Cuba in the first half of this year.

These pavilions are planned to open before the 4th CIIE and the total number of national pavilions of the Greenland Global Commodity Trading Hub Group is expected to reach 70. Meanwhile, the Greenland Global Commodity Trading Hub Group cooperates with various embassies and consulates including those of Argentina, Chile, Latvia, and Costa Rica to hold commercial launches, and organizes around 500 brands of more than 50 traders to conduct procurement matchmaking in several provinces such as Shanghai, Zhejiang, Shandong, Hubei, Inner Mongolia, and Sichuan, which have resulted in a total turnover of more than 8.5 billion yuan in upstream and downstream transactions.

In addition, the "trading port model" is also accelerating nationwide expansion and has been established in 13 regional core cities including Tianjin, Harbin, Jinan, Xian, Guiyang, Chengdu, Kunming, Ningbo, and Lanzhou.

CIIE has also opened up several "fast lanes", which can bring the latest technology, products, and ideas to China.

"We have signed a contract with the pilot area of Boao Hope City, Hainan, in the 2nd CIIE. In 2020, an innovative medicine, Lorlatinib, for treating ALK-positive, have come into service in Hainan," Wu Kun, COO of Pfizer Biopharma China, said.

The Waigaoqiao Industrial Park for Smart Manufacturing Service is the only long-term display and transaction platform in the CIIE smart and high-end facilities section. The platform has newly increased several projects to accommodate the CIIE overflow effects, including a technical service center as the first one focusing on metal additive manufacturing solutions in Asia build by Georg Fischer machining solutions in the industrial park.

After the end of the 3rd CIIE, more than 50 exhibits from several international leading medical equipment companies, including Johnson & Johnson, Abbott, Roche, Danaher, and Zai Lab, directly settled in the i-space bounded exhibition hall of Waigaoqiao international medical device display and transaction center in Shanghai, most of them were star products in the 3rd CIIE.

Shanghai Free Trade Zone International Culture Investment Development Co. has joined hands with the 4th CIIE and established an artifacts & artworks category. Many international top auction companies, including Christie, Sotheby, and Phillips, will participate in the exhibition. Several international galleries and art institutions from countries and regions such as the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Korea, Singapore, and Hong Kong, will bring a great art exhibition of over 1,000 square meters in scale featuring many countries and varieties.

"Overseas traders are running into the Chinese market," the general manager of a Chile cocktail importer said CIIE has become the oriental opportunity for international procurement, investment promotion, personnel exchange, and open cooperation. Through CIIE, the vitality of China's opening up and development can be felt.
