"Raging Fire" continues to lead Chinese box office

BEIJING, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Action film "Raging Fire" continued to dominate the Chinese mainland box office on Thursday, figures from the China Movie Data Information Network showed on Friday.

Focusing on a story about police hunt for a gang of drug traffickers, the film ended its seventh day of screening with daily earnings of around 30.84 million yuan (about 4.77 million U.S. dollars), accounting for more than 53 percent of the day's total box office revenue.

It was followed by romantic comedy "Upcoming Summer," which generated more than 10 million yuan on Thursday.

Coming in third was animated film "White Snake 2: The Tribulation of the Green Snake," the latest cinematic production centered on the ancient Chinese legend of the White Snake. The film pocketed about 7.27 million yuan on Thursday.
