Lin Qingfeng won the gold medal for men’s 69kg weightlifting on the fourth day of the London Olympics. It is the first gold medal for Chinese weightlifters in London. In the past two days’ games, people were worried about Chinese men’s weightlifting, especially after Wu Jingbiao missed the gold medal for men’s 56kg category competition and Zhang Jie missed the gold for the 62kg category. Wu cried after the competition for his failure, “I feel guilty to my country and my team”. He bowed before the camera to apologize. Zhang Jie also expressed his regret on Weibo (a SNS in China). These two events deeply hurt people’s hearts. Meanwhile the public started to rethink the meaning of gold medals.
