National cross-country skiing tournament ends in NW China
LANZHOU, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- The 2020-2021 China cross-country skiing tournament ended Friday in Baiyin city in northwest China's Gansu Province.
It was the first national winter sports event of 2021 and took place about a year before the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games. Over 170 athletes from 23 teams across the country participated in the event.
Zhang Bei, team manager of China's cross-country skiing training team, introduced that the team will focus on the athletes with good performance and competitive state in the tournament.
"With the help of wind tunnel and other technological assistance, I hope that Team China made a breakthrough through in scientific training in long-distance projects and women's relay for cross-country skiing in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games," Zhang said.
