New York Liberty center Han calls for action on anti-Asian American violence
WASHINGTON, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- New York Liberty center Han Xu of China on Friday called for action on anti-Asian American violence after a wave of recent attacks.
"It is frightening and upsetting to see the rising hate crimes and attacks against the Asian American community and in particular in New York, a community I love," Han said.
"We all need to show solidarity for those being targeted and take action to stop this horrific violence. Please be kind to one another," Han added.
The Liberty has also joined with other New York organizations to help thwart a recent wave of attacks on Asian-Americans in the metropolis and nationally.
"The Liberty stands vehemently against racism, xenophobia, hatred and violence against the Asian American community," the team said in a statement on Friday.
Chinese center Han joined the Liberty in 2019 and played one season for the team before opting out of last season due to the spread of COVID-19. The Liberty recently extended Han's contract to 2022.
