During this year’s Spring Festival release period, the film that received the highest critical acclaim is “Hi, Mom”, the maiden directorial project of comedian and actress Jia Ling. By now, “Hi, Mom” has received over 5 billion yuan in box office revenues.

By February 13, two days after its release, “Hi, Mom” reached 500-million-yuan (around 77 million U.S. dollars) in box office revenues.

By February 14, three days after its release, it reached 1 billion yuan (around 154 million U.S. dollars) in box office revenues.

By February 16, “Hi, Mom” broke the box office record of 2 billion yuan (around 307 million U.S. dollars), making Jia Ling the female director holding the highest box office record in China.

By February 18, its box office revenues surpassed 3 billion yuan (around 461 million U.S. dollars).

By February 21, its box office revenues broke 4 billion yuan (around 614 million U.S. dollars).

By February 27, its box office revenues were alsmot 4.7 billion yuan (around 722 million U.S. dollars). This film became the third highest-grossing film ever screened in China.

By March 6, its box office revenues broke the 5-billion-yuan (around 768 million U.S. dollars) mark. It is the third film to achieve this, and the fastest in obtaining this result.

On the same day at 8:27pm, “Hi, Mom” broke the box office record of 5.04 billion yuan (around 776 million U.S. dollars), and became the second highest-grossing film ever screened in China.

By March 20, its box office revenues surpassed 5.3 billion yuan (around 814 million U.S. dollars), making Jia the female director holding the highest box office record in the world. In addition, “Hi, Mom” became one of the 100 highest-grossing films in the world.
