In a recent interview with Guangming Online, Moosa Siraj, a member of the Maldivian People's Majlis, discussed key aspects of China-Maldives cooperation and shared his vision for future collaborations.
Siraj underscored the symbolic significance of the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge, which stands as a testament to the strong friendship between the two nations. He emphasized the bridge's transformative impact on transportation accessibility, noting its exceptional quality. "The quality of the bridge, we can say, is excellent," Siraj commented. He also highlighted its pioneering nature as the first bridge built in deep-sea conditions, showcasing China's engineering prowess.
Looking ahead, Siraj discussed future areas of collaboration. He emphasized the pressing need for social housing in the Maldives and praised recent joint efforts with China that resulted in the construction of 7,000 housing units. Expressing optimism, he hoped for continued support in addressing housing challenges. Siraj also pointed out the promising potential of investments in the tourism sector, which he believed would yield significant economic benefits and enhance the well-being of the Maldivian people. These collaborative efforts, Siraj anticipated, will further strengthen the relationship between China and the Maldives in the coming years.
