Heartwarming! Japanese girl covers Chinese anti-epidemic songs

Three Japanese girls have warmed up millions of people with a song during the end of cherry blossom season, as Japan is facing the critical moment of a COVID-19 that continues to spread.

On the streets of Tokyo, they performed a Japanese rendition of the Chinese anti-epidemic song "Waiting for you to triumph", and their video was widely followed on the Internet.

A record 367 new cases were confirmed in Japan in a single day, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 3,506, according to the latest data of the new outbreak reported by Japanese public broadcaster NHK as of 10:30 local time (0930 GMT) Monday.

The lyrics of "Waiting for your triumph" were adapted in Japanese by Katsuka Nakata, a Chinese-japanese hybrid 23-year-old who recently graduated from Hiroshima university.

Speaking to reporters, she said that after watching the short documentary "Nanjing epidemic scene" by Japanese director Reiko Takeuchi, she learned that China had made incredible efforts to fight the new epidemic and that the situation of epidemic prevention and control had kept improving. Therefore, having studied in Capital Normal University as an exchange student for one year,Katsuka Nakata, who has deep feelings for both China and Japan, came up with the idea of doing something for everyone.

Katsuka Nakata majored in Chinese literature at university, not related to music.But she, who has loved music since she was a child, was moved by an online charity song about China's fight against the epidemic, "waiting for you to triumph," which wished the people fighting the epidemic across China a safe return.

"I would also like to offer my prayers and wishes, and also to let the Japanese people know what China has done to fight the epidemic and how people are facing life during the epidemic," said Katsuka Nakata.

However, the translation of lyrics is not as easy as expected.Due to the differences between Chinese and Japanese languages and cultures, the Japanese people could not fully understand the meaning of the translation simply by copying, so Katsuka Nakata re-filled in the Japanese lyrics, she would like to convey her mind into the song, make it conform to the Japanese culture, Japanese people can understand the song. According to her, the whole process took about a week.

Under the encouragement of friends, Katsuka Nakata courage came to Shinjuku station near the station, put up the "never lost to a novel coronavirus" anti-virus signs.

It was her first street performance. Fortunately, there is understanding to support her friends to accompany singing, Katsuka Nakata before the tension dissipated slowly. Katsuka Nakata said she was glad to see Japan and China helping each other in the face of the epidemic and sending each other supplies for epidemic prevention. In her opinion, songs, like poems, convey a kind of power and make people warm.

"Our common enemy is a novel coronavirus." Katsuka Nakata said the hope that the Japanese government can take decisive measures, and the parties to join hands to fight the epidemic.
