Recently, Odong Christopher from Uganda and some of his international classmates studying in Southern Medical University created a musical ode to frontline medics, extending their great gratitude to frontline medics for their significant contribution to the fight against the COVID-19.
Odong, as a student majoring in medical medicine, has been studying in China for nearly six years. With great help from his friends and professors, he now can understand every obscure term in class and communicate with others in Chinese fluently.

Having been here for such a long time, Odong shared his experience and feelings as Doctor Wu Xiping, one of his favorite professors, responding to the call to assist virus-hit Wuhan. Three months ago, he felt so proud yet worried hearing Dr. Wu’s coming to Wuhan. Dr. Wu is an attending physician in the Respiratory and Critical Care Department of Zhujiang Hospital, and one of the best doctors Odong met during his internship.

"I’d like to extend my great gratitude to Southern Medical University. Studying here as a medical student molds my personality, preparing me for a qualified doctor in the future.” He said, “Thank all medical staff members in Zhujiang Hospital who assist coronavirus-hit Hubei in combating the novel coronavirus outbreak. Not only I’ve learned necessary professional knowledge from them, but I’ve also learned the strong sense of mission and responsibility a qualified doctor shall preserve."
