[Overview] Copenhagen is Denmark's capital and its political, economic and cultural center. Located on the eastern coast of Zealand island in Denmark, the city covers an area of 86.4 square kilometers and has a population of 780,000.

[Politics] Copenhagen is governed by the City Council and the city government. There are seven standing committees under the City Council which has 55 members directly elected by the citizens for a term of four years. The lord mayor of Copenhagen also serves as chairman of the City Council for a four-year term. The incumbent lord mayor, Frank Jensen, took office in 2010 and was re-elected for the second term in 2014 and for the third term in 2018.

[Economy] Copenhagen is an emerging manufacturing city. One-third of the country's industrial sector are located in the city, mainly including shipbuilding, machine manufacturing, electronics, chemical metallurgy, food processing and textiles. Copenhagen also has Denmark's largest and best commercial port, which contributes to more than 50% of the country's foreign trade.

[Culture and Education] There are many museums and parks in Copenhagen. The Little Mermaid bronze statue in a seaside park is world-renowned. The bronze statue was created by Danish sculptor Edvard Eriksen in 1913 based on Andersen's fairy tale The Little Mermaid and is regarded as a symbol of Copenhagen. Institutions of higher learning in the city include the University of Copenhagen, Technical University of Denmark, Copenhagen University College of Engineering, Royal Danish Academy of Music, and Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Copenhagen was named the European Capital of Culture in 1996.

[Relations with Beijing] On June 26, 2012, Beijing and Copenhagen officially became sister cities. Since then, the two cities have maintained good official ties and signed cooperation agreements in the fields of urban planning, health care, and water affairs. Their cooperation based on institutional platforms has been very productive.

Culture: During the Eurovision Song Contest held in Copenhagen in 2014, Beijing organized Beijing Week activities in Copenhagen, including various performances, the “Charming Beijing” photo exhibition, and an intangible cultural heritage exhibition. In 2016, Beijing State-owned Cultural Assets Management Center signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation with the Mayor's Office and Culture and Leisure Administration of Copenhagen. During Beijing Design Week 2018, Copenhagen presented the guest city exhibition themed “Living is Giving” in Beijing to show the livability and sustainability of Copenhagen.

Planning: In 2012, the two cities signed the Memorandum of Cooperation on the Establishment of a Working Group on Sustainable Urban Planning and Development to promote effective communication and information sharing in the field of urban planning and development. In 2014, Beijing District Heating Group and Danish Board of District Heating signed a strategic cooperation agreement. During the Beijing Design Week 2018, the Qinglong Cultural Innovation Community designed by a Danish design team set an example for development of livable urban space in the core area of the capital. From 2019 to 2020, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources sent staff to Copenhagen to participate in training on urban sustainable development every year.

Water Affairs: In 2014, the two cities signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Water Affairs between Beijing and Copenhagen. In the same year, the Danish Embassy in China held the Beijing-Copenhagen Urban Water System Technology Exchange Conference in Beijing. More than 60 people from Danish companies and representatives of the Copenhagen City Government as well as representatives of Beijing's water affairs authority and water experts from Beijing's colleges and universities attended the conference and exchanged views on technological cooperation in urban storm management, water supply and drainage, and other fields.

【概况】哥本哈根市是丹麦首都,政治、经济、文化中心。位于丹麦西兰岛东部,面积86.4平方公里,人口78万。

【政治】哥本哈根城市管理机构包括市议会和市政府。市议会下设7个行政委员会,共有55名议员,由市民直接选举产生,任期4年。哥本哈根市市长同时兼任市议会主席,任期4年。现任市长弗兰克•延森于2010年就职,并于2014年、2018年两次连任,任期4年。

【经济】哥本哈根是新兴制造业城市,全国1/3的工业集中在该市,主要工业有造船业、机器制造业、电子业、化学冶金业、食品加工业和纺织业等。哥本哈根还是丹麦最大最优良的商港,该港对外贸易占全国的50%以上。 

【文化教育】哥本哈根有很多博物馆和公园,其中海滨公园的“美人鱼”铜像闻名世界。该铜像由丹麦雕塑家艾里克森于1913年根据安徒生童话《海的女儿》创作,被视为哥本哈根市的标志。该市的高等学府有哥本哈根大学、丹麦理工大学、丹麦工程学院、皇家音乐学院和美术学院等。哥本哈根市于1996年被评为“欧洲文化之都”。

【两市交往】2012年6月26日,北京市与哥本哈根市正式建立友好城市关系。结好以来,我市与哥本哈根市保持着良好的官方往来,在城市规划、卫生医疗、水务领域签署了合作协议,开展机制性合作,取得丰富成果。

文化领域:2014年,哥本哈根市举办“欧洲歌唱大赛”期间,我市在哥本哈根成功举办了包括文艺演出、“魅力北京”图片展、非遗展示等大型综合性“北京周”文化展示活动。2016年,市文资办与哥本哈根市市长办公室和文化休闲部签署合作谅解备忘录。2018年,北京国际设周期间,哥本哈根市作为主宾城市在京举办了“悦享丹麦,赋予生活”主宾城市展览,向公众集中展示了哥市在绿色、环保、宜居城市建设方面的理念与成果。

规划领域:2012年,两市共同签署了《北京市与哥本哈根市关于设立可持续性城市规划和建设工作组的合作备忘录》,推动双方在城市规划与建设领域的有效沟通和信息共享。2014年,北京市热力集团与丹麦区域供热委员会签署战略了合作协议书。2018年,北京国际设周期间,由丹麦设计团队担纲的青龙文化创新街区开街,成为“首都核心区的宜居样板”。2019年至2020年,市规划自然资源委每年派员赴哥本哈根市接受城市可持续发展课程培训。

水务领域:2014年,两市共同签署《北京市与哥本哈根市水务合作备忘录》。同年,丹麦驻华大使馆在京举办“北京—哥本哈根城市水系统技术交流会”,来自丹麦企以及哥本哈根市政府代表与我市水务系统、在京高校水务专家等共计60余人就城市暴雨管理、供水和排水等技术合作进行了深入探讨。
