[Overview] Belgrade is the capital as well as the political, economic, industrial and cultural center of Serbia. Situated at the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers, it is the country's largest aviation center and inland port and a transportation hub for the Balkan Peninsula. The city covers an area of 3,234 square kilometers and has a population of 1.65 million.

[Politics] The city is governed by the City Assembly and the City Council (i.e., the city government). The City Assembly consists of 110 councilors elected by secret ballot for a term of four years. The current City Assembly was elected in March 2018, and the coalition formed by the Serbian Progressive Party, the Party of United Pensioners of Serbia, and the Social Democratic Party of Serbia holds 64 seats. The City Council comprises the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and nine members. Belgrade is divided into 17 municipalities, including 10 urban and seven suburban municipalities. The incumbent mayor is Zoran Radojičić, who was elected in June 2018.

[Economy] Belgrade is the financial and IT center of Southeast Europe. It is home to the regional headquarters of many well-known international banks and technology companies.

[Culture and Education] Belgrade is the center of the country's cultural and educational activities. The University of Belgrade, founded in 1863, is the most famous university in the country. Most of the country's important cultural and art institutions, such as the world-famous Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, National Library of Serbia, National Museum, and National Theatre, are all located in Belgrade.

[Relations with Beijing] Beijing and Belgrade became sister cities in October 1980. Since then, their relationship has developed smoothly and their cooperation in the fields of culture, education, tourism and sports has been active. In October 2018, the two cities worked together to hold the third China-CEEC Capital Mayors Forum in Belgrade.

Culture: In September 2017, Beijing organized Beijing Day activities in Belgrade, including a concert by Beijing Symphony Orchestra, a photography exhibition on intangible cultural heritage called Charming Beijing, a trade show of Beijing's time-honored products, and Chinese film screenings, to promote Chinese culture in the city. Many local media outlets covered the activities.

Education: The Communication University of China, Capital Normal University, Beijing Union University, Beijing International Studies University, and China Conservatory of Music have worked with universities in Serbia to jointly launch programs for Chinese language promotion, intercollegiate exchange, teacher and student exchange, as well as scientific research cooperation, among others. The Communication University of China has established a Confucius Institute in Belgrade.

Sports: In September 2017, as part of the Beijing Day event, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports and the Serbian Ice Hockey Association held a China-Serbia-Romania youth hockey friendly match in Belgrade.

【概况】贝尔格莱德市是塞尔维亚首都,塞政治、经济、工业、文化中心。贝市位于多瑙河和萨瓦河汇流处,是全国最大的航空和内河港口,也是巴尔干半岛交通枢纽。面积3234平方公里,人口165万。

【政治】贝市权力机构包括市议会和市政委员会(即市政府)。市议会有110个席位,议员通过无记名直选方式产生,任期4年。本届市议会于2018年3月选举产生,塞尔维亚前进党、社会党、社会民主党组成的联盟占64席。市政委员会由市长、副市长和9名成员组成。贝市共分为17个区,其中10个市区,7个郊区。现任市长为佐兰·拉多伊契奇,2018年6月当选。

【经济】贝尔格莱德市是东南欧金融和IT业中心,众多国际知名银行和科技企业在此设有区域总部。

【文化教育】贝尔格莱德市是全国文化教育中心,创建于1863年的贝尔格莱德大学是全国最著名大学。国家重要的文化艺术机构也大多设在贝市,如世界闻名的塞尔维亚科学院、塞尔维亚国家图书馆、国家博物馆、国家剧院等。

【两市交往】北京市与贝尔格莱德市于1980年10月结为友好城市。结好以来,两市关系发展顺利,文化、教育、旅游、体育领域合作活跃。2018年10月,两市合作在贝市举办了第三届中国—中东欧国家首都市长论坛。

文化领域:2017年9月,我市在贝尔格莱德举办了面向当地民众的“北京日”系列活动,包括北京交响乐团音乐会、“魅力北京”图片展暨非物质文化遗产展览展示、北京老字号展卖、中国电影展映等,当地媒体对活动进行了广泛、积极报道。活动有力提升了中华文化在当地的影响力。

教育领域:中国传媒大学、首都师范大学、北京联合大学、北京第二外国语学院、中国音乐学院与塞尔维亚学校在汉语推广、校际交流、师生互访、科研合作等方面有相关教育合作。中国传媒大学在贝尔格莱德市设立了孔子学院。

旅游领域:贝尔格莱德市是由我市发起成立的世界旅游城市联合会会员。

体育领域:2017年9月,贝尔格莱德“北京日”活动期间,市体育局与塞尔维亚冰球协会合作在贝市举办了3国(中国、塞尔维亚、罗马尼亚)青少年冰球友谊赛。
