Last month, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government launched three projects aimed at encouraging young people to seek opportunities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

HKSAR Chief Executive Carrie Lam said the GBA will provide Hong Kong with infinite opportunities, and the government encourages various sectors, in particular young people, to participate in the GBA development.

The projects include a 130-million-Hong Kong dollar (16.76 million U.S. dollars) scheme expected to fund 230 startups and provide incubation services to over 4,000 young entrepreneurs.

Qianhai in Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province has established a Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub in Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone, which pilots Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

During an interview with Mr. Lo Jyunlai, a HK young entrepreneur now working in the Greater Bay Area, he said that he decided to move from Hong Kong last year to work in Qianhai's Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub. "I like the concept here, to support Hong Kong's young entrepreneurs in pursuit of the Chinese Dream, to amplify Hong Kong's advantages in the development of the GBA," he mentioned.

According to the draft outline of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for national economic and social development and the long-range objectives through the year 2035, China will promote the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in an active and prudent manner.
