The China Development Forum 2021 was held online and onsite in Beijing from March 20 to 22. Many delegates who participated in the forum highlighted China’s economic recovery and fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jakob Stausholm, Chief executive of Rio Tinto, said, “it is an impressive achievement for China to quickly manage the pandemic impacts and turn the economy around.”
Denis Depoux, Global Managing Director of Roland Berger, said, “China has done an incredible job. It has rapidly tamed the pandemic and restored a relatively normal life. The systematic approach was an impressive determination, the mobilization of everyone with discipline. ”
Jean Lemierre, Chairman of BNP Paribas, said that what we see in China is impressive. China, most likely, is one of very few countries to have a positive growth, which is great for China and for the world.
Ola Kallenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Mercedes Benz AG, said, “it was paramount that the Chinese government took effective measures at an early stage of the pandemic and executed them thoroughly. This helped the Chinese market to recover more quickly than anywhere else.”
Mike Henry, BHP CEO, said, “economies have proven more resilient than many anticipated. In part, this has been due to skillful government action in some countries to contain the pandemic and to stimulate economies. This has certainly been the case in China, and the fast, strong recovery in the Chinese economy has supported many other nations. ”
Dr. Severin Schwan CEO of Roche Group, said, “there is no doubt that China has also benefited relative to other economies in the world by overcoming this pandemic more quickly.”
Lars Fruergaard Jørgensen, the President and CEO of Novo Nordisk, said, “we commend China’s effective control of the pandemic domestically as well as support to the global community. The Chinese leadership has made a bold call for the need to establish ‘a global community of health for all.’”
