Net literature became the spearhead of Chinese culture going global

If, during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, socio-economic development set up a historic monument of "farewell to poverty and moderate prosperity for all", then, Chinese literature during the same period was a beautiful landscape: in the colors of the rainbow, unique and eye-dazzling.

Many writers embraced important themes such as pandemic prevention and control, poverty relief, and the CPC’s 100th anniversary, and carried out interviews and creations unprecedented in range and depth. This added a series of new artistic figures to the gallery of literary icons. They are selfless medical workers, ordinary community workers, and delivery people who work day and night. They reflected the value orientations of literature which resonated with the times and walked with the people, this formed a spectacular national literary action at a key historical point.

During the past five years, our nation's net literature was also at a period of raising its quality and reshaping its structure. As it prospers, there emerged numerous quality works which reflect the reform and opening-up policy and the historical process of modernization. They are full of positive energy and gained enthusiastic popularity among netizens. Literature-oriented netizens increased to 465 million people, genre novels reached 25 million volumes, and net literature-based films, television series, animations, and games have mushroomed. Among them, Chinese net literature is taking big strides into Southeast Asia, North America, and the European Union. It became the spearhead and key force for Chinese culture going global, and was praised as comparable with Hollywood blockbusters, Japanese anime, and Korean dramas as the four cultural phenomena in the world. As net literature is improving in quality, the team of net literature writers also realized an update and reached a total number of 17.6 million writers. Among them, writers born in the 1990s became the main creative force. Indeed, the older generation is still roaring, while the younger generation is already surging.
