On Dec. 31, 2020, China's National Medical Products Administration granted conditional marketing authorization for the first COVID-19 vaccine developed by the Beijing Biological Products Institute Co., Ltd. under the China National Biotec Group, affiliated with Sinopharm.

After the mass vaccination program started, the country has been working at full speed to vaccinate its people against COVID-19.

The first 100 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered across Chinese mainland as of March 27.

It took 25 days for the COVID-19 vaccines administered across Chinese mainland to exceed 200 million doses from 100 million doses, 16 days from 200 million doses to 300 million doses, 9 days from 300 million to 400 million doses, 7 days from 400 million to 500 million doses, 5 days from 500 million to 600 million doses, and 5 days from 600 million to 700 million doses, according to daily updates by the National Health Commission.

As of June 6, over 777 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered across Chinese mainland, roughly a third of the 2.1 billion shots distributed globally. China's accelerated speed of vaccination has strongly proven its resolution to strengthen efforts to defeat COVID-19.
