White Paper Released Titling “China’s Political Party System: Cooperation and Consultation”

The State Council Information Office released the white paper titled “China’s Political Party Systems: Cooperation and Consultation” on June 25.

The white paper pointed out that the multiparty cooperation and political consultation led by the Communist Party of China is the country’s basic political system that sprouted from Chinese soil, showcases Chinese wisdom while learning from the fine achievement of mankind’s political civilization. It’s a new type of political party system unique to China.

China’s political party system consists of the CPC and 8 other political parties as well as prominent figures without any party affiliation. Over the years, the CPC has worked together with the non-CPC political parties, advancing side by side, withstanding all kinds of tests, and forming a new type of relationship featuring cooperation, unity and harmony, said the white paper.

According to the white paper, China’s political party system features cooperation, participation and consultation, and is fundamentally rooted on the principles of unity, democracy and harmony. It embodies the important functions of ensuring political participation, freedom of expression, social cohesion, democratic oversight and social stability. China’s political party system also organically integrates political governance and participation, leadership and cooperation, and consultation and oversight. It’s an important channel for the people to become the master of the country, and an important system ensuring socialist consultative democracy.

China’s political party system is an important arrangement ensuring that the CPC and other political parties as well as non-affiliates work closely together in solidarity in state governance. The CPC adheres to the principles of equality, democratic consultation and sincere cooperation when working with non-CPC parties, and it supports non-CPC members and non-affiliates in playing their part at the people’s congress, governments and judicial bodies at various levels so as to jointly advance the governance of the country.

According to the white paper, reality has shown that this unique political model is the natural choice derived from history, it’s a great invention that displays unquestionable strength and vitality in China's political and social life. China’s political party system embodies the country’s fine traditions and culture, it underlines the fundamental purposes of the socialist system and fits China’s national conditions and the needs of state governance. It is a basic political system that serves national development, ethnic rejuvenation, social progress and the happiness of the people.
