'Sponge park' begins trial operations in Shanghai

Trees and lawns have been planted to create corridors and landscapes, and aqua-plants that purify water have been grown in the two waterways which intersect in the center of the park.

Looking from above, the park looks like planets in orbit with its curved shape and eight circular landscapes that each contain one facility. Some buildings in the park will serve as venues for astronomical exhibition, water-sport entertainment, stores and restaurants.
