In order to explore Marxist theory and train management talents of various types, the CPC set up the special institution of Party schools.
The earliest Party school was the Marxist-Communist School established more than 80 years ago in Ruijin, Jiangxi Province. Later, it was renamed as the Party School of the Central Committee of CPC after relocated to Shaanxi Province. When New China was founded, the school moved to Beijing.
Today, in addition to the Central Party School, all provincial, municipal and county-level Party committees have set up local Party schools.
While a university exists as a higher education institution that explores academic knowledge, the Party school teaches Marxist theory and trains Party cadres.
Party schools undertake the following functions:
First, train and educate Party members and cadres, improve their political and ideological awareness as well as scientific and cultural knowledge, whiling enhance their Party character.
Second, conduct theoretical research on Party building, and survey into the status of Party organizations and Party members.
Besides, grassroots Party schools also undertake the training of active applicants for Party membership.
