A Thai girl’s dream of Beijing 2022

A recent painting contest for teens in Thailand entitled “Together with Beijing 2022” attracted numerous participants. They nicely depicted themselves taking part in winter sports, expressing their enthusiasm and best wishes for Beijing 2022 with fevered imagination and colorful brush strokes.

One of the participants shyly introduced us to her work. Pointing to the pretty little girl and the mascot in the lower left part of the painting, she told us, “My name is Thanwarat and I have a Chinese name, Lin Lening. This is me with the mascot Shuey Rhon Rhon.”

Right above the center of the painting stood another girl who hit a superb shot in her Winter Olympic outfit with the flag of Thailand prominent on her chest. Lening explained, “I hope she will represent Thailand in the ice hockey game of Beijing 2022 and bring glory to her country.”
