In 2018, Robert Kuhn was awarded the China Reform Friendship Medal by the Chinese government in recognition of his contributions to spreading the China Story.
In 2008, his published book –The Inside Story of China’s 30-Year Reform was a vivid account of China’s reform and opening-up. The book was also recognized as an example of international expressions of the China Story. Over the past 30 years, Kuhn has flown to China on more than 200 business trips and research tours. He’s committed to showing the world the real contemporary China.
One logic line to tell the China Story is through its reform and opening-up program. In Kuhn’s eyes, to understand China, one must understand the CPC. Today, Kuhn spends more than a third of his time each year in China on research and exchanges. He said it was a privilege for him to witness China’s great transformation and how it became the world’s second-largest economy and a major player in global affairs. “I wish to change the stereotypes people have about China.” Kuhn said.
