Investigation team set up for central China plant fire

ZHENGZHOU, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- The State Council, China's cabinet, has decided to set up an investigation team after a fire occurred at a plant in central China's Henan Province.

The fire broke out at around 4 p.m. Monday at the plant of a commerce and trade company in the city of Anyang, leaving 38 dead and two others injured.

The team is led by the Ministry of Emergency Management (MEE), with the participation of the Ministry of Public Security, All-China Federation of Trade Unions and the People's Government of Henan Province.

Song Yuanming, head of the investigation team and vice minister of MEE, urged efforts to identify the cause of the fire as soon as possible, accurately and objectively determine responsibility, come up with practical solutions and strictly hold those responsible to account.

Local governments should learn lessons from the accident, rectify risks and problems, and resolutely prevent and contain major and serious accidents, Song told a meeting of the investigation team.
