Spring Festival Custom: Up all night for the eve of the festival

The Spring Festival is a very important traditional festival for the Chinese, but the grandest and most celebrated day is the Spring Festival Eve, or “Chuxi” in Chinese. “Chu” means “pass” or “get over” while “xi” means “midnight”. So, when it passes the midnight of the last lunar day, a new day begins, and that is the first day of a fresh new year.
