Pakistan's anti-narcotics force recovers 51 kg drugs, arrests 9

ISLAMABAD, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) of Pakistan had seized over 51 kilograms of narcotics and arrested nine culprits involved in the smuggling, said a spokesperson here on Saturday.

The spokesperson said in a statement that the ANF conducts six separate operations and seized the drugs, including heroin-filled capsules, intoxicated tablets, ketamine injections and hashish.

The ANF foiled a bid to smuggle drugs to the northwest provincial capital Peshawar from the Khyber tribal district bordering Afghanistan and recovered 14 kilograms of hashish from the possession of two accused, said the statement.

In another raid, the ANF recovered 16.8 kilograms of hashish hidden in the secret cavities of a car at the highway near the country's capital Islamabad and arrested two accused.

The force also recovered 21.8 kilograms of hashish from a car and arrested three drug smugglers in the western bypass area of the southwest provincial capital Quetta.

The spokesperson added that the force had also arrested a passenger at the Islamabad International Airport and recovered 65 heroin-filled capsules.

According to the official, separate cases were registered against the accused and they were being investigated to find the networks working behind them.
