Three Gorges lock north route reversing operation ensures shipping capacity balance

The Three Gorges lock resume its normal operation mode of "north route inbound, south route outbound" after a two-day reversing operation on Feb. 12, 2023. The number of ships to be locked above and below the Three Gorges Dam is basically balanced. According to the Three Gorges Navigation Administration of the Yangtze River, the two-day reversing operation of the north route of the Three Gorges locks has ended. A total of 60 locks have been operated, and 226 ships, 856,800 tons of cargo and 77,000 tons of basic life materials have passed through, effectively adjusting the asymmetric backlog of ships waiting to be locked at the Three Gorges.
