5G technology helps enhance agricultural chain in S China's Guangdong

The first thing that pops into people's mind when encountering the mention of 5G is probably always the unprecedently fast internet connections the term implies. Few seem to see its connections with rice. In Zengcheng District of Guangzhou City, south China's Guangdong Province, there are thousands of mu of farmland waiting to be put into effective use in the upcoming spring. Guangzhou Kewang Shiye Ltd. plans to utilize 5G technology to achieve this goal. In joint efforts with Academician Luo Xiwen's team from South China Agricultural University, the company has established an experimental unmmaned farmland that stretches 100 mu, which will achive comprehensive automization of plowing, planting, management and reaping of see-mew rice, guaranteeing an increase in food production. At the same time, farmland smart stations are set up to improve the efficiency of its warehouse management system, making sure that the food production process is safe, traceable and supervised.

Zengcheng District, as the Vegetable Basket Base of the Greater Bay Area has been promoting the modernization of its agricultural chain whilst also advancing projects aimed to enrich its residents.
