On January 27, Pakistan Railways held a ceremony to announce that it would include train coaches imported from China in 2022 in the Green Line Express service and officially put them into operation.
Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. He said that China has exported to Pakistan advanced passenger trains with many new functions. After coming into service, the trains will enhance the image of Pakistan railways, allow passengers to enjoy comfortable and fast travel, and help attract more passengers to choose rail travel.
In November 2022, the first batch of 46 wide-gauge coaches and spare parts in the project of 230 passenger trains exported by Chinese enterprises arrived in Pakistan.
