On May 5, 2023, The construction of the box girer of the Baotou-Yinchuan high-speed railway bridge across the Wangan railway was completed by the Shanghai Engineering Bureau of China Railway, marking the completion of the main project of the first railway bridge in Inner Mongolia section of the Baotou-Yinchuan high-speed railway. The Baotou-Yinchuan high-speed railway is an important part of the Beijing-Lanzhou corridor of China's "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network.
