During the World Internet Conference Nishan Dialogue on Digital Civilization held from June 25th to 27th, 2023, Danilo Casertano, president of the Manes Association in Italy, shared insights on how artificial intelligence (AI) is empowering the education sector to benefit students and teachers by converting data into valuable information. Casertano emphasized the significance of data and its transformation into actionable knowledge through proper processing and utilization.

Casertano's focus lies in outdoor education, and he collaborates with municipal authorities in Italy to implement the "Community Education Pact" initiative, which aims to expand educational spaces and enhance students' learning experiences. He explained that teachers often conduct surveys and create maps of various urban locations to gather information and evaluate their suitability for outdoor education. With the aid of AI technology, teachers now utilize ChatGPT to encode information and assist in developing outdoor education curricula.

Despite the significant impact of digital technology on education, Casertano maintains that it cannot replace the profound connection with nature. He holds high expectations for students to reconnect with their bodies and the natural world. He stated, "As much as we use AI, it is very important for the youth to be connected to nature and body. Otherwise, it's like having huge wings to fly but no roots to stay grounded."
