Listen to the “living fossil” of Chinese classical music at where the wind blows

Baisha music, also known as “Beng Shi Xi Li”, is a classical music suite combining instrumental music, vocal music and dance created by the Naxi ancestors. Baisha music is a representative of the excellent culture of the Naxi people and is known as a “living fossil” of Chinese classical music.

The orchestra of Baisha Fine Music is composed of at least 8 people, each playing one instrument, including flute, recorder, reed pipe, sugudu, curved pipa, guzheng, erhuang, and the hu fiddle, with a strict division of labor. There are 8 chapters in the suite of “Baisha Fine Music”, which are: “Du”, “Sashi”, “Sansiji”, “Meimingwu”, “Beautiful White Clouds”, “Stomping”, “Pacing” and “Curtain”.

To this day, the Baisha Fine Music has existed for more than 800 years. When the music is heard, the Naxi people would immerse in a strong sense of identity. The music is not only a spiritual inspiration for the Naxi people, but also a beacon to guide their actions.
