Parliamentarians visit Legislative Outreach Office in E China's Jiangsu

SUZHOU - Delegations of the 5th Seminar for Parliaments of Developing Countries visit the Kunshan Legislative Outreach Office of Legislative Affairs Commission, Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress in Kunshan City, Suzhou City, east China’s Jiangsu Province, Jul. 14, 2023.

As China's top legislature, the National People's Congress (NPC) adheres to the principle of whole-process people's democracy in legislation by establishing a number of channels to boost the people's participation in the process of lawmaking. Legislative outreach offices are directly associated with the standing committees of the people's congresses at all levels, and this is where the people can express their expectations for future laws and offer relevant suggestions. Over the past two years, the Kunshan Legislative Outreach Office has participated in the solicitation of opinions for 43 legislative drafts and legislative plans, submitting 2,057 suggestions; of these, 198 suggestions have been recognized and adopted.
